FBI Official Fired After Suggesting Epstein Case “Cover-Up” Involving Prominent Democrats

A senior FBI paralegal specialist has been dismissed after leaked audio surfaced in which he suggested that the bureau is concealing politically sensitive information about Jeffrey Epstein.

The O’Keefe Media Group released recordings on Monday of Mitch Rosas, who had served as a senior paralegal within the FBI. In the audio, Rosas claims there is “something” being withheld in the Epstein case and alleges that certain files will remain sealed until the end of the current administration. He further suggested that many prominent Democrats could appear on what he referred to as an Epstein client list.

“None of the people that are in a position to answer the questions are willing to do it because it’s clear that they’re covering something and protecting someone or some people,” Rosas said in the recording.

The precise basis for Rosas’s assertions remains unclear. It is not known how he drew his conclusions or what access, if any, he had to unreleased case materials. What is clear, according to online reports, is that Rosas was fired this week and escorted from the FBI.

Following his dismissal, Rosas sought to walk back his remarks, urging O’Keefe’s group not to publish the recording. In a statement, he insisted he had not spoken in an official capacity and said his comments had been misrepresented.

“I am not a government official and was not speaking on behalf of anyone but myself. I was not informed the conversation was on the record. The transcript you reference is a fabrication and does not reflect what I said. I do not consent to publication,” Rosas said, warning that he was prepared to pursue legal remedies. “I reserve all legal rights and remedies, including defamation, false light, and intrusion upon seclusion. Do not publish. I will be represented by counsel.”

The controversy over Rosas’s remarks comes as pressure is mounting on federal authorities to release more information tied to Epstein. Last week, six women who say they were trafficked by Epstein or his longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell gathered in Washington, D.C., to demand the release of investigative files. They also urged President Donald Trump to rule out a pardon for Maxwell.

The women, who spoke with NBC News, included Jess Michaels, Wendy Avis, Marijke Chartouni, Jena-Lisa Jones, Lisa Phillips, and Liz Stein. The panel also included relatives of Virginia Roberts Giuffre — one of Epstein’s most prominent accusers — who died by suicide in April.

“Epstein was a master manipulator,” said Michaels, who alleges she was raped by Epstein in 1991 when she was 22. “That was a strategy that was honed. That was a strategy that no young woman, no teenage girl had a chance — not a chance against his psychopathic skills.” She said she came forward because of what she called a “severe miscarriage of justice” and a “delay in accountability.”

The other women echoed calls from lawmakers in both parties for greater transparency, saying too many powerful figures ignored or enabled Epstein’s abuse. Jones, who alleges Epstein began abusing her when she was 14, said silence has compounded the harm.

“There were many, many adults around [Epstein’s] properties that may not have participated but very clearly knew what was going on,” she said. “And they’re not saying anything, and why are they still not saying anything and speaking up on our behalf?”

Their statements came just hours before the Republican-led House Oversight Committee released more than 33,000 pages of Epstein-related documents — another indication that the fight over the late financier’s legacy, and those who may have enabled him, is far from over.
