‘The View’ Heats Up as Alyssa Farah Griffin Warns Trump Would Win by a Larger Margin if 2024 Election Were Re-Held

Tensions ran high on The View this week after co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin bluntly told her fellow panelists and the audience that, if the 2024 presidential election were held again today, former President Donald Trump would likely win by an even greater margin than he did last November.

“I’m gonna make this table and this audience very upset, but I want to tell the unvarnished truth,” Griffin said, drawing audible groans from the studio audience. “I think if the election were re-held today, Donald Trump would win by the same, if not a bigger margin.”

Her assessment sparked immediate pushback from co-host Joy Behar, who interrupted to ask, “How do you say that, though?”

Griffin pointed to fresh polling data from Reuters/Ipsos released Tuesday, which showed that a significant share of Americans continue to trust Republicans more than Democrats on the policy issues that dominated the last election cycle—namely crime, immigration, the economy, and foreign conflicts.

“This country is so deeply polarized,” Griffin explained. “If you hated [Trump] before, you hate him even more now. But there are definitely people experiencing buyer’s remorse. And there’s this poll today showing that on the top issues people voted on, they still trust Republicans more.”

According to the Reuters/Ipsos survey, 40% of voters said they trusted Republicans to handle crime and immigration, compared to just 20% and 22% who trusted Democrats on those issues. The poll also found Republicans ahead of Democrats on the economy, gun control, foreign conflicts, and political extremism.

Democrats held an advantage on a different set of priorities. A plurality of voters trusted them more on healthcare, the environment, women’s rights, and “respect for democracy.”

But the warning signs for Democrats didn’t end there. A separate Washington Post/Ipsos poll showed Republicans holding a 7-point lead on the economy, a 13-point lead on immigration, and a commanding 22-point lead on crime—issues that analysts say could significantly shape the political landscape heading into the 2026 midterm elections.

Those numbers underscore what exit polling revealed in November 2024: voters prioritized the economy and immigration above all else, factors that helped propel Trump to victory across every battleground state and ultimately made him the first Republican nominee in two decades to win the national popular vote.

Trump’s gains also extended to traditionally Democratic constituencies. He made major inroads with Hispanic and blue-collar voters, becoming the first Republican presidential candidate to carry the Hispanic male vote—a development that political strategists say could reshape the electoral map for years to come.

Griffin’s comments reflected her view that Democrats face a difficult road ahead, even as her fellow panelists expressed disbelief and frustration. The exchange highlighted not only the stark political divides across the country, but also the raw emotions surrounding Trump’s return to power.
