U.S. Military Destroys Drug Submarine in Caribbean, Trump Confirms
Former President Donald Trump announced that U.S. forces destroyed a drug-smuggling submarine in the Caribbean, resulting in the deaths of two suspected traffickers and the capture of two others. The submarine was allegedly carrying fentanyl and other narcotics toward the U.S., along a known trafficking route. Trump claimed the operation could have prevented up to 25,000 overdose deaths and emphasized that no American personnel were harmed. The announcement was made during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and later elaborated on Truth Social with video footage.
This incident marks the sixth interdiction of its kind since U.S. combat operations in the region began the previous month. Although the Pentagon has not publicly named the operation, increased activity by the CIA and a recent U.S. Air Force B-52 mission near Venezuela point to heightened counter-narcotics efforts. Fox News confirmed the surviving suspects are being held aboard a Navy ship. The operation is part of a broader U.S. response to transnational drug threats, particularly those involving fentanyl.
Fentanyl, often manufactured in Mexico using Chinese-sourced chemicals, continues to drive high overdose rates in the U.S. Republican lawmakers like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar have advocated for tougher penalties for traffickers, including the death penalty. They criticize the Biden administration’s border policies, linking them to rising drug inflows. Since 2021, authorities have seized over a million pounds of illegal drugs. The military operation reflects growing GOP support for a more forceful approach to combating drug trafficking and reinforcing border security.

300 Americans are murdered each day by fentanyl.
It’s the leading killer of young people, 18-34, in America.
Today, I introduced an amendment to H.R. 467 to give the death penalty to criminals who intentionally or knowingly import fentanyl across our Southern border. pic.twitter.com/muoHxMvd61
