A teenage girl paid barely $200 for an old caravan.

Fourteen-year-old Ellie Yeater from Williamstown, West Virginia, transformed a 1974 Wilderness camper into a vibrant “glamper” using just $500 of her own savings. She purchased the rundown camper for $200 and spent the remaining funds on materials like paint, flooring, and decor. With guidance from her father and grandfather, Ellie gutted the interior, repainted the exterior in “Mystic Sea” blue, and chose a peach and aqua color scheme for the interior. She replaced the outdated flooring with wooden tiles and added personal touches, including curtains sewn by her grandmother and decorative items reflecting her style.

Ellie’s renovation project was driven by her desire for a personal space to call her own. Inspired by her brother’s cabin on their family’s 60-acre property, she envisioned a cozy retreat close to home. Her mother, Lori, supported Ellie’s initiative, emphasizing the importance of encouraging her to think creatively and pursue her ideas without limitations.

The completed glamper is a testament to Ellie’s creativity and determination. The interior features a cheerful color palette, functional furniture, and personalized decor, making it a comfortable and inviting space. Ellie plans to use the glamper for sleepovers, quiet time, and playing her ukulele, enjoying the fruits of her hard work and ingenuity.

Ellie’s project has garnered attention as an inspiring example of youthful ambition and resourcefulness. Her ability to envision and execute a renovation on a limited budget showcases the power of creativity and perseverance. Ellie’s story encourages others to embark on their own DIY projects, demonstrating that with determination and support, significant transformations are possible.
