A new report has revived controversy surrounding the mysterious bag of cocaine found in the White House in July 2023. Investigative journalist Susan Crabtree of RealClearPolitics uncovered documents indicating that the Secret Service destroyed the cocaine just one day after abruptly closing the investigation, raising serious questions about transparency and accountability.

The cocaine had initially been tested by multiple agencies, including the Secret Service, D.C. Fire Department hazmat unit, and the FBI. After testing, the evidence was stored temporarily and then handed over to the D.C. Metropolitan Police for destruction. However, official documentation verifying the actual destruction of the bag is missing.

A DEA document titled “Destruction” failed to provide a specific destruction date. Other internal files suggest the decision to destroy the evidence may not have been unanimous. In fact, there are reports of internal retaliation against at least one official who objected to the decision, hinting at possible disagreements within the agencies involved.

While officials publicly stated that the cocaine bag did not yield usable fingerprints or DNA, neither the Secret Service nor the FBI has released the lab results to support this claim. Forensic experts emphasize that such conclusions require retesting, which is no longer possible if the evidence has been destroyed.

The abrupt closure of the case and disappearance of the evidence have drawn sharp criticism from security experts and political commentators. Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino has vowed to pursue the issue further, calling it a troubling breach of national security procedures.

Adding to the controversy is the fact that the cocaine was discovered inside the White House—a highly secure and closely monitored facility. The quick shutdown of the investigation has fueled suspicions of a possible cover-up or mishandling by federal authorities.
