At least two people died Sunday afternoon when a small aircraft crashed near Hicks Airfield in Fort Worth, Texas, colliding with multiple parked 18‑wheeler trucks and trailers. The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. along North Saginaw Boulevard in the 12700 block, prompting a massive fire and thick black smoke visible for miles. Fire crews arrived within minutes and brought the blaze under control within approximately 35 to 40 minutes, though damage to numerous trailers and a grass fire were reported. The victims have not yet been publicly identified.
Preliminary reports indicate the aircraft struck at least ten tractor-trailers, setting many ablaze, and possibly triggered secondary explosions upon impact. According to Fire Department statements, the aircraft was a King Air twin-engine model that had reportedly departed Alliance Airport. The crash site lies between Fort Worth Alliance Airport and Meacham Airport, west of Dallas‑Fort Worth International.
Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are involved in assessing the cause. As of now, the origin, destination, number of persons aboard, and causal factors remain undetermined. Road closures on Business 287 and nearby routes have been enacted while emergency and investigative personnel secure the site and gather evidence.
