At just five years old, little Ryder Wells has already endured more tragedy and pain than many people face in an entire lifetime.
In 2015, during a Thanksgiving visit with family in North Carolina, the unimaginable happened. Ryder, then only 21 months old, was viciously attacked by two rottweilers, each weighing over 100 pounds. The dogs mauled him with such force that he lost half of his face, his teeth were shattered, his arm was broken, and his tiny body was left with a punctured lung.
His family was told not to expect him to survive. The injuries were so catastrophic that hope seemed almost impossible. Yet against every odd, Ryder pulled through.
Since that day, his journey has been defined by courage. Now five, he has already undergone close to 50 surgeries, each one an attempt to rebuild what was taken from him and give him the chance to live the childhood he so deserves.
