Mom of twins born with Down syndrome shuts down all negativity.

Savannah Combs, a 23-year-old mother from Middleburg, Florida, experienced a rare and miraculous journey when she gave birth to identical twins with Down syndrome. While the rate of twin births has increased over the past decades, identical twins remain quite uncommon, occurring in just 3 to 4 out of every 1,000 births. What makes Savannah’s story even more extraordinary is that her twins, Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, are mono-di twins—sharing a single placenta but with separate amniotic sacs—a rare occurrence in itself, combined with the twins’ diagnosis of Down syndrome. Doctors advised Savannah to consider terminating the pregnancy due to survival concerns, but she chose to embrace the journey, cherishing each prenatal appointment as a blessing.

Born prematurely at 29 weeks while Savannah’s husband was away at boot camp, the twins spent several weeks in the NICU before coming home. Savannah shares her family’s story on TikTok, where her daughters have gained a large following. She emphasizes that despite their diagnosis, the twins are like any other children, with feelings, communication skills, and the ability to reach milestones—albeit sometimes on a different timeline. Savannah highlights their strength, determination, and happiness, affirming that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.

Despite facing some online criticism and hurtful comments, Savannah remains resolute in her love and dedication to her daughters. She responds to negativity with strength, affirming that her children were given to the right family who loves them unconditionally. The story of Kennadi Rue and Mckenli stands as a powerful testament to resilience, love, and the joy that comes with raising extraordinary children who defy odds and expectations.
