A 17‑year‑old Florida teenager rescued his missing 5‑year‑old sister, with help from a sheriff’s deputy, in a dramatic lake rescue captured on body camera. The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded around 3:30 p.m. on October 6 to a missing child in the Lake Lisa Park area. The girl, who has autism and is nonverbal, had been seen in the water.
When deputies arrived, they found the teen already in the lake, holding his sister aloft on a submerged branch as he struggled to free her from entangled limbs. The bodycam footage shows the deputy entering behind him, urging him forward, then assisting him in lifting her to safer footing. The girl giggled amid the ordeal, and at one point the brother cried out in relief, “Thank God I’m standing on soil.”
The Pasco Sheriff’s Office praised the teenager’s courage and praised the coordinated effort with law enforcement. The child was safely reunited with family after the rescue, and the incident was widely shared by local authorities and media as a story of resourcefulness, bravery, and effective emergency response.
